MLM greens town with 52 trees |

 The Executive Mayor Cllr Lenah Miga
The Executive Mayor of Mafikeng Local Municipality, Cllr Lenah Miga, planted 52 trees in aid of greening the town as September is also the month of planting trees, Arbour Month. The municipality intends to also plant two hundred (200) more trees of different kinds in Mahikeng over and above the 52 that were planted yesterday by the Executive Mayor. According to the Cllr Miga, the municipality will ensure that these trees do not die with the help of officials from the Parks unit within the municipality, who will round up these trees and trim or cut them when necessary.

The Executive Mayor of Mafikeng Local Municipality, Cllr Lenah Miga, handed the first 20 of 130 houses last week at Dithakong West village in Mahikeng. The handover followed the disaster that struck in 2007 with strong winds and storms in Mahikeng causing most of the mud houses to collapse. Although Mafikeng Local Municipality took a resolution to build the affected 130 people, who were identified and recognised to be the beneficiaries, decent houses to live in they also gave them emergency houses to utilise in the interim.

 Mafikeng Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Nomtsama Lenah Miga, MEC for Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Boitumelo Tshwene, Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Phaladi Saku as well the Serbian Chairman of Bipom Cluster ( a Serbian business forum ) Milivoj Stojanovic.
Mahikeng - Unemployment and poverty are likely to be a thing of the past in the Capital City of the North West soon after the formalisation of the investment agreement between Serbian investors and the North West Provincial Government. This comes after a Serbian delegation met with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality and Mafikeng Local Municipality during their three days visit last week.
The purpose of the meeting was to establish bilateral relations which will eventually lead to agricultural investment cooperations and collaborations between the North West Provincial Government and the Serbian investors. The high-profiled government delegation was led by the MEC for Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Boitumelo Tshwene, Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Phaladi Saku as well the Mafikeng Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Nomtsama Lenah Miga.

CITY RAID CLOSES DOWN ILLEGAL SHOPS |

Officials from Mafikeng Local Municipality, SARS, Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Labour conducting an inspection at Best Price Shop on Station Road
Mafikeng Local Municipality in partnership with the South African Revenue Services (SARS), South African Police Services (SAPS), and the Department of Labour last week embarked on a tight joint-inspection operation aimed at clamping-down illegal business operations in Mahikeng CBD. During the operation, which was mainly targeted at the notorious Station Road officials from various government institutions confiscated expired foods in several shops, closed down seven businesses, confiscated of old foreigner permits and issued labour law contravention notices.
